Clematis 'Aleksandrit' ['Alexsandrit']

Aleksandrit has large, red flowers which bleach slightly in the sun. Yellow stamens. Introduced by M A Beskaravainaja at the Nikitsky State Botanic Garden in Yalta, Crimea 1967. Alexsandrit is a semi-precious stone and the name also commemorates the Russian clematarian Alexander Volosenko-Valenis.
