Clematis 'Pendragon'

Small nodding dusky reddish-purple flowers. The tepal colour fading to paler purple at the base. Choose a sunny position to bring out the spicy scent, which is similar to that of 'Betty Corning'. Suspected to be a hybrid of C. crispa x C. viticella. Named 'Pendragon' by Robin Savill due to the dusky colouring, which brought to mind scenes of medieval pageantry and, in particular, King Arthur whose family name was Pendragon.
