Clematis 'Pleniflora'

An attractive late flowering montana cultivar with white, semi-double flowers, raised by Mr. Hansreudi Horn-Gfeller of Switzerland around 1980. A seedling of C. montana, apparently found in a batch grown from Himalayan seed, slightly unusual in that its flowers tend to face upward rather than just outward. 'Pleniflora' will sometimes give a second flush with fewer flowers formed of fewer tepals.

The photographs of this relatively uncommon cultivar were taken in Helmsley Walled Garden, North Yorkshire, UK where the clematis collection is maintained with the help of the British Clematis Society.
