Clematis 'Pesni Kol'tsova'

Medium to large flowers, intense purple-blue at the centre of the tepals, lilac-blue with violet veins at the edges. Golden yellow anthers. One main stem has from 6 to 52 flowering stems, 10-12 flowers per stem. Resistant to fungal diseases and drought.

Our original source told us that the cultivar was named for Aleksey Koltsov (1809-1842) who was a Russian poet. The fifth supplement to the International Clematis Register and Checklist 2002 says that the epithet, which means literally "Song Kol′tsova", is the name of a popular confectionery item in Russia.
