Clematis 'Ostrich Plume'
Double white flowers, the tepals having a very wavy margin.
In a book published jointly by The Times of London and the Royal Horticultural Society, called 'A century in photographs: Gardening 1900-2000' is an article on the important US plant breeder Luther Burbank. It notes that Burbank could number "..such well known ornamentals amongst his achievements as .. the ostrich plume clematis." Well known it may have been but it seems now to be long lost.
