Clematis cirrhosa var balearica

Small nodding, bell-shaped, creamy-white flowers speckled inside with brown, maroon or orange. Yellow anthers. Evergreen foliage which turns to bronze or purple in the winter months. Introduced from Minorca in 1783. William Robinson, writing in 1912, notes that the form is scented, the Illustrated Encyclopedia of Clematis describes it as lemon-scented. The variety received the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit in 1993.
